Extended Care Worker (K3–5th Grade)

Position Overview

UMS-Wright Preparatory School seeks enthusiastic, dependable, and student-centered individuals to join our Extended Care Program. This position is ideal for candidates who enjoy working with children and are interested in gaining experience in education, childcare, or youth development.

Extended Care Workers support students in a safe, nurturing, and engaging after-school environment while upholding UMS-Wright's mission to educate students in mind, body, and spirit.

This is a primarily Monday–Friday position, typically from 2:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., working with a specific age group ranging from K3 through 5th grade. Flexible scheduling is available for candidates currently enrolled in undergraduate programs.

Responsibilities

• Assist in providing care for students in one of the following age groups:
  • K3
  • K4–K5
  • 1st–5th Grade
• Supervise and actively engage students in age-appropriate activities and play
• Foster a positive, safe, and inclusive environment for all children
• Assist with snack distribution and ensure proper procedures are followed
• Monitor and manage student sign-in and sign-out procedures
• Support organization and cleanliness of the Extended Care space
• Collaborate with fellow staff members to ensure smooth daily operations
• Perform additional duties as assigned by program leadership
  

Qualifications

• High school diploma required
• Must be 18 years of age or older
• Prior experience working with children preferred (babysitting, camps, childcare, etc.)
• Current undergraduate students, especially those pursuing degrees in Elementary Education or Early Childhood Education, are encouraged to apply
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Professional, dependable, and punctual
  
• Patient, energetic, and enthusiastic about working with children
• Demonstrates a strong work ethic and positive attitude
